Embarassing Moments...

When was the last time you had an embarrassing moment?
Well... Surely everyone has one, if not a lot.

Last Saturday, I went for a Dhamma talk. Surely the first thing that pops into your mind is: "Sigh, another boring talk by some 'holy' monk" Well at least that was what came into my mind.

But after the talk, trust me, he's nowhere near divine nor holy. He uses the words "shit", "ass", "stupid", but of course, his stories are still in the Buddhism context. He's quite a down-to-earth Australian monk named Venerable Ajahn Brahmavamso, Ajahn Brahm for short. He incorporates interesting stories with great meaning in his talks. Not only me, but even politicians and businessmen find it very amusing to hear how he applies the Buddha's teaching in everyday life.

This story is about himself.
ajahn brahm

He was at the airport waiting for his next flight. So he orders a cup of coffee while reading the newspapers. When his coffee arrives, he attempts to suck the coffee through what he thought was a straw. He was thinking "Hmm, is the straw stuck? How come there's nothing coming out of it?" Little did he knew that what he was sucking was actually a spoon!! At that moment, the people there were staring at him thinking "What's this stupid monk doing?! Sucking from a spoon?!" When he realised, he laughed at himself!!

The moral of the story: Do not feel embarrassed when you do something stupid or wrong. Instead, laugh about it! Who knows? You may be missing out on the biggest joke of the century!

Ok now comes my story.

In my life, I prefer everything to be standardised. E.g. Light switches on the left and fan switches on the right, pencils/pens in this drawer and erasers/blanco in that drawer. At the Monash campus, most of the male toilets are on the left and females on the right. (or at least the one next to the cafeteria) So I assumed that all the toilets in the campus are built that way.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I was right on time for my Malaysian Studies lecture but I needed to shit, urgently. Since the lecturer was not here yet, I dashed into the left toilet and since the door was opened, I didn't bother to look.

After I was done, I felt weird that a guy's toilet didn't have those stand-up-cubicles. Only when I exit the toilet that I saw the female symbol!!

Female symbol

I was like "OMG, OMG, OMG, OMFG!!!" Luckily no one was around. So I quickly entered the lecture hall and shortly after that, laughed over it!! =D

Even now when I think about this incident, I would laugh and people would think I'm crazy XD

Feel free to share your story at my comments column, otherwise, leave your comments on my CBox on the right! =D

3 is the magic number

I don't know why, but it seems that the number 3 kept occuring to me today.

Firstly, I planned to go to TESCO today to buy some stuff and visit Hui Ling who's working there. I was ready at 3pm but since I already missed 3 buses, I thought of taking a cab. Yet again, 3 taxi drivers ignored me. Finally a bus comes!! I felt like a miracle just occured! =p

I reached One Utama at around 3.45pm and walked to TESCO. When I ran across crossed the road, a car almost hit me!! 3 times!! Until I saw Hui Ling, I wasn't sure if she was working at that TESCO or not. So, I was actually taking a risk. At least I had some shopping to do and if I was wrong, oh well, just continue shopping la =)

Apparently, Pik San was working there too. Their break was at 4pm so we went together to the mamak nearby. My food costs RM3!! It was only teh tarik and roti canai!! OMG!@#$%^&*
Turns out that they taxed their food, which is already expensive. =(

After that, they resumed their work as promoters and I resumed my roll as a customer =D
That means I went around tasting their mushroom soups, noodles, Yakult, etc. But that doesn't mean I forgot my shopping, I bought 3 items, deodorant, socks and a sink filter. All these items cost me RM30. Did you count how many times the number 3 appeared?

After chatting with them, I found out that Benjamin Foo is working at Anime Tech in One Utama. So I decided to visit him as well =) But unfortunately for me, he was working at some fair in Times Square. So overall, I visited 3 friends at their workplace today.

When I came out from the Old Wing, I saw the bus that I'm supposed to take back home!! And it was picking up passengers from the New Wing!! I tried to run across the road but it was too busy.

Grr... As soon as I got to the divider of the road, the bus was already moving out!! Lucky for me, the traffic light changed to red and the bus stopped. I ran as though my life depended on it, and reached the point where the bus is 1 road away. In between, was a busy and continuous stream of cars and it was next to impossible to cross. I almost tripped when I tried to cross and this car sped up. SCREW YOU!!

This "stranger" saw me and said "are you Sze Wei?" I said yes and turns out that we attended the same tuition during Form 3. After a brief chat, I just realised I had missed a chance to cross. >.<" Somehow I managed to get across and the bus driver was kind enough to let me board the bus. Some drivers don't give a damn and that happened to me TOO MANY TIMES!!

Home sweet home!! I was finally home!! After a quick shower and some dinner, I sat down in front of the computer trying to absorb the lesson on Forex when suddenly, I had a mental breakdown and just drop dead in front of the monitor. My father woke me up and I slept on the sofa for 15minutes and woke up to give all my readers and update!! =D
